Getting Started, Part 2

New plant

Go to the Diary choice page and click 'New' on the Husbandry line, as before. Select 'sow' as the activity but this time we are going to record sowing a plant that's NOT currently in the Plant Catalogue.

In the Plant species box, don't drop down the list just type the name of the species into the empty box:

I've also done the same thing with the Plant variety (and changed the date).

I emphasised that you must type the entry into the empty box. If necessary clear any text in the box in the usual way. If you type into a box with text in it (so that you get something like 'tomchilliato') the application will add a plant with that name. If you want to change the name of a plant, go to the Plant Catalogue, select the species or variety and use the Change button to get a Plant editor. You can safely change the name (and anything else) here.

Anyway, back to the task in hand: click Save, as usual, and now bring up the Diary list:

Note that both entries for the 8/2/2018 are grouped into the same 'box'; each can be selected individually for the usual purposes.

Now bring up the Plant Catalogue, like we did right back at the start:

As you can see, the plant we've just added is present in the catalogue and will be there in the drop downs.
